I saw someone make a DIY messenger bag with this on the well known
Canon Photography on the Net forum and it looked great! Picked up a
blue one and it fits all my current gear into my North Face Recon Day
Pack's main compartment. 5D w/ 50 f/1.8, 580EX in case, and 35 f/2.
Planning to use this in the Recon abroad so I don't need to carry my
separate camera sling. Looking at the build quality, I'm expeding it to
last.
Great product!

Best DSLR padding I have used yet! I got this too DIY my own
messenger bag from a forum I'm on. Fits right in my mesenger bag and
holds a lot! Great for a daily use to stuff in any bag to go~ I highly
recommend it!

Simply awesome. I needed something to hold my T1i and lenses but
would also keep my MBP in the same bag. Obviously it is asking a lot
because I couldn't find anything that could do this. I already had my
Hamptons Hybrid for my MBP and accessories and decided to give the
Camera Paddy a whirl. It works perfect and still allows me to keep all
my gadgets together. I highly recommend this if you have a bag that
will fit it. It is smaller than I thought but just right to keep my body and
2 lenses with some cards and flash together in the main compartment in
my bag.

I put my Paddy in a messenger bag I already owned, so I had a killer
bag that carried me through two weeks in Europe, for $30. I carried an
Olympus E330/14-54 lens, 40-150 tele, flash, small binoculars and the
usual assortment of "stuff." It worked great, and it will fit in a LOT of
other messenger bags if you don't buy BBPs. But a clue here...I'm
buying a BBP messenger because of the quality of the Paddy.
MICHAEL CHAN - DECEMBER 1, 2010 (from Amazon.com)
I went looking for something nice to protect my camera gear. I found
the typical camera bags out there to be just ugly and very very
expensive. Then I stumbled upon the Tenba Removable Photo Insert. If
you are reading this review, you probably have already seen the Tenba
model. I was amazed at the price point and that I could possibly fit it
into my Timbuk2 Medium Messenger bag.
I found pictures on flickr: [...] and it looked like a nice setup. Discrete
and still good looking.
Now it was a very good thing that when I was about to pull the gun, the
Tenba was all sold out. Amazon, BH, etc, even Tenba's own website was
out of stock. FYI, the newer version of the Tenba insert does not have
the flaps. So I went looking again. Found the Domke inserts which were
not very appealing.
Then I found this item on amazon and was sold. No review, no problem.
Same price, same size, better features. It was exactly the same as the
Tenba one in the flickr pictures, WITH the inner flaps so that if you have
a huge camera, and store it in the middle, the flaps help prevent the
weight of the camera from crushing and deforming the other vertical
paddings.
I was able to fit a whole bunch of stuff in there on my recent trip. The
trip I actually bought it for. I kept a Canon XSi DSLR with kit zoom lens,
a m4/3 GF1 camera w/ 20mm lens, the 14-45mm lens, and the 14-
140mm lens. Plus I fit my remote wireless timer, cables, chargers, and
LVF. And a Logitech mouse and iPod 60GB on top left and right sides. All
that and the flap that closes it all still closed as it should without a
bump. It was like a protective yellow brick. But it is not heavy like a
brick. The flap also has webbing divided into 5 for storing 3 SD cards
(or more if you double up) with case and 2 filters. I then fit the yellow
brick into the timbuk2 with a 12" laptop, charger, water bottle, glasses
case, plus whatever else I have in the small inner pockets.
This paddy / insert is great, cheap, durable, and looks good. I like the
yellow. I think it looks better than the standard gray or black. Looks
nice in my Medium Timbuk2 and the yellow gives the bag a little more
pop. But with the cover flap, it is still discrete because you cannot see
your gear when you open your bag for water or something else. Would
be nice to have a zipper or an option for a zipper. Waterproof zippers?
Might have to bring it to the local tailor. When I'm not traveling, I can
just lift the entire thing out and use my messenger bag regularly, w/o
reorganizing my camera stuff or worrying about stuff spilling out the
top.
Customer Service was good so far. Emailed about padding on the very
bottom and Nigel emailed me back in a couple hours with "all sides are
padded, even bottom" which sold me even more. I ordered straight
from their website w/ free shipping.
